Les Feldick Bible Study

What does God want us to do when we can do nothing to save ourselves?

God wants us to stand still, stop relying on works or self-effort, and simply and completely trust the finished work of Christ. Salvation is a gift not of works, so when we can do nothing to merit it, we rest in what Christ has already done.

Les explains that Israel could have tried, but it would have done them no good; they didn't have time. They were to stand still. That is the place God wants us: where there is nothing we can do but simply and completely trust the finished work of Christ. He emphasizes that salvation is not of works, and a gift is extended for no reason and cannot be merited. The finished work of Christ is what makes our escape possible, so don't let it slip away from memory.
