What does God require of us to be saved, according to this teaching?
God requires simple faith: believing that the Lord died for you and was raised in resurrection power, trusting with all your heart. No human work, sacrifice, or law-keeping is required; righteousness is imputed to the one who simply believes, without doing a thing.
Les teaches that Abraham never offered a sacrifice until years later; he simply believed God, and God saw that man's faith and imputed righteousness. Les explains that it is the same with us: without our doing a thing, we simply say, “Yes Lord, I believe it that You died for me. I believe that You were raised in resurrection power, and I believe it with all my heart.” That, he says, is all God is looking for. By contrast, Hebrews 11 shows Abel offering a sacrifice and Noah building the ark—faith plus action—and other great men of God had faith plus temple worship, plus law keeping, plus this, plus that. But for us, the requirement is simple faith in the Lord's death and resurrection.
