What does God say He will do in Exodus 12:12 on the night of the Passover?

In Exodus 12:12, God says He will pass through the land of Egypt that night, smite all the firstborn in Egypt, both man and beast, and execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt. This displays His authority over Egypt's pagan deities.

Les explains that in Exodus 12:12 God declares He will pass through Egypt that night, smite all the firstborn, both man and beast, and execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt. Les points out that every one of the plagues was directed against one of Egypt's gods, proving their pagan worship had nothing to do with Him and that He could destroy them at will. He also stresses that since the Tower of Babel the whole human race until Abraham was saturated in paganism and polytheism, the worship of many gods. Israel, as His separated and different covenant people, was the only people on earth with knowledge of the one true God.

Exodus 12:12

For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
