Les Feldick Bible Study

What did God promise about the outcry in Egypt on the night of the tenth plague?

God promised there would be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, unlike any before or after, because all the firstborn would die, from Pharaoh's firstborn to the maidservant's and the livestock. This judgment would strike Egypt's society and economy, but Israel would be spared.

Les teaches that God promised a great cry would go throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there had never been before and would never be again. This outcry would come because all the firstborn in Egypt would die, from Pharaoh's firstborn who sits on the throne to the firstborn of the maidservant behind the mill, and even the firstborn of the beasts or livestock. Les points out how devastating this would be to Egypt's society and economy. Yet against the children of Israel, not even a dog would move. Les explains that this shows God's control over the animal kingdom, and he connects it to Jesus telling Peter to get tax money from a fish. God puts a difference between Israel and the nations.

Exodus 11:6

And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
