Is our body saved when we get saved?
No. At the moment of salvation, the soul and spirit are totally redeemed and made ready for eternity, but the body is not ready yet. God has placed His down payment on it through the indwelling Holy Spirit, promising a future new body reunited with soul and spirit.
Les explains that even though the moment we're saved the soul and spirit are totally redeemed, saved, and made ready for eternity, the old body is not ready yet. God has put His down payment on it by virtue of the indwelling Holy Spirit, His brand on us. That assures us that whether we go through the valley of the shadow of death and are put in the cemetery, or some other bizarre disaster happens, one day we will have a new body reunited with soul and spirit, making us a complete entity for the eternal. While alive and at home in the body, we are absent bodily from the Lord, though spiritually we are already citizens of heaven and have been translated into the kingdom of His dear Son.
