What happens to our position in the body of Christ at the moment we are saved?

At salvation, God immediately places the believer into the body of Christ by the right of adoption. Positionally, this is a place of full maturity and full responsibility, even though experientially the new believer begins as a babe in Christ and grows in grace and knowledge.

Les explains that Scripture presents two concepts. The new believer enters the body of Christ as a babe in Christ, desiring the sincere milk of the Word, and grows through the Christian experience until ready for the strong meat. But positionally, the moment a person is saved, God places him by adoption into full maturity and full responsibility in the body of Christ, like a tutored son presented as a full partner with the Father. Ephesians 1:5 calls this being predestinated unto the adoption.
