Les Feldick Bible Study

What are believers ultimately looking forward to instead of being unclothed and having the soul separated from the body?

Believers ultimately look forward to being clothed upon with a new, far better body, an immortal one. Rather than being unclothed and having the soul and spirit separated from the body, they anticipate a body that will never again experience pain, sickness, or a cold.

Les explains that the believer is not so much looking forward to losing this old body and having the soul and spirit separated from it. The whole prospect is that as soon as this body has quit functioning and is no longer necessary, believers have a new one, one that is far better. That new body will never again have an ounce of pain, sickness, or even a cold. Les calls it a glorious prospect that is coming, and says we are getting close. The same truth applies to young people and older folk: one of these days this body, whether young, old, or in between, is suddenly going to be gone, and believers will be clothed upon with that which is immortal. Mortality, being prone to die, is contrasted with being clothed upon with that which is immortal.

2 Corinthians 5:4

For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
