When will believers receive a new body?
Believers will receive a new body in the coming day of complete redemption, when the redemption of the purchased possession takes place. The Holy Spirit is given as the earnest of that inheritance until then. At this final redemption of the body, believers will become complete and ready to enter all eternity.
Les explains that the day is coming when believers will have a new body, and this is part of the complete redemption in Ephesians chapter 1. He directs attention to Ephesians 1:14, where the sealing of the Holy Spirit is the earnest, the down payment, of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession. He notes that while soul and spirit are already redeemed, the redemption of the body is what is still waiting. Paul then says everything is moving to the day of that final redemption of the body, when believers will be a complete entity, ready to go into all eternity.
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
