What is the Septuagint?
The Septuagint is the Old Testament Hebrew translated into Greek by 70 Jewish scholars several years before Christ. It was the Greek version Jesus referred to, and when He quoted the Old Testament, if not in Hebrew, He quoted from the Septuagint.
Les explains that the Septuagint was the Old Testament Hebrew translated into Greek by 70 Jewish scholars quite a few years before Christ. He puts a lot of emphasis on it because it was the Greek that Jesus always referred to. Whenever Jesus quoted from the Old Testament, if He did not quote it in the Hebrew, He would quote it from the Septuagint Greek. Les also notes that this is where a lot of Greek scholars put the Greek language together for our own benefit. In the immediate context, Les was checking the Greek and the Strong's Concordance for a word, and he found that you sometimes have to go to the Septuagint when looking up a word.
