Where did the Septuagint come from?

The Septuagint originated in Alexandria, Egypt, where Jewish scholars gathered around 300 years before Christ and translated the Hebrew Old Testament into Greek. It was a valid translation, evidenced by Jesus quoting from it, and Apollos came from that same intellectual Hebrew background.

Les explains that Alexandria, Egypt, had a seminary of sorts, and that is where the Septuagint originated. Jewish scholars came together about 300 years before Christ and translated the Hebrew Old Testament into Greek. He considers it a valid translation because Jesus repeatedly quoted from it, and He would not have done so if it were a forgery. Apollos, an eloquent Jew from Alexandria, came out of that same intellectual Hebrew environment.
