Is the Septuagint a trustworthy translation?
The Septuagint is a valid translation of the Hebrew Old Testament. Jewish scholars produced it around 300 BC by translating the Hebrew Old Testament into Greek. Jesus repeatedly quoted from the Septuagint, indicating it was not a forgery. This supports its reliability.
Les explains that the Septuagint originated in Alexandria, Egypt, where Jewish scholars came together about 300 years before Christ and translated the Hebrew Old Testament into Greek. He considers it a valid translation because Jesus over and over quoted from the Septuagint, and he does not think Jesus would have done so if it had been a forgery. Apollos, an eloquent Jew from Alexandria, came out of that same intellectual Hebrew background.
