What is the Septuagint and who translated it?
The Septuagint is the Old Testament Hebrew translated into Greek by 70 Jewish scholars several years before Christ. It was the Greek version Jesus often referred to, and when He quoted the Old Testament, if not in Hebrew, He quoted from the Septuagint Greek. Greek scholars later used it to compile the Greek language for our benefit.
Les teaches that the Septuagint is the Old Testament Hebrew translated into Greek by 70 Jewish scholars several years before Christ. He places emphasis on it because it was the Greek that Jesus always referred to. Whenever Jesus quoted the Old Testament, if He did not quote it in Hebrew, He quoted it from the Septuagint Greek. Les also explains that this is where a lot of Greek scholars put the Greek language together for our own benefit. In the transcript, he mentions consulting the Septuagint to look up the Greek word Kapalyouhou in connection with verse 17 about corrupting the Word of God.
