Whose departed souls and spirits will God bring from heaven at the rapture?

At the rapture, God will bring the departed souls and spirits of believers only from heaven into the atmosphere. Not unbelievers, but those who are asleep in Christ, the dead in Christ, will be reunited with their resurrected bodies when the Lord descends.

Les explains from I Thessalonians 4 that when Jesus died and rose again, God will bring the departed souls and spirits of believers only—not of unbelievers—from heaven down to the atmosphere. The soul and spirit are absent from the body and present with the Lord. Then the dead in Christ shall rise first: they will be resurrected, brought out of the tomb and wherever they are buried, and reunited with their soul and spirit that God has brought from His presence into the atmosphere. Those alive and remain will not precede or go ahead of them who are asleep.

1 Thessalonians 4:14

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
