Les Feldick Bible Study

What is the difference between celestial and terrestrial bodies?

Celestial bodies are those out in space, while terrestrial bodies are things here on the earth. Their glories differ: the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another, just as the sun, moon, and stars each have distinct glory. This illustrates the resurrection of the dead.

Les teaches that God gives each seed its own body as it has pleased Him, and this goes back to Genesis where everything is confined to its own species. There is no crossing over from one totally different species into another. In the same way, all flesh is not the same: there is one kind of flesh of men, another of beasts, another of fish, and another of birds. Les explains that there are also celestial bodies and bodies terrestrial—celestial bodies are what is out in space, and terrestrial bodies are things here on the earth. The glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another of the stars, for one star differs from another star in glory. This is all an illustration, and so also is the resurrection of the dead: it is sown in corruption, death, and it is raised in power.

1 Corinthians 15:40

There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
