What is the difference between celestial and terrestrial bodies in 1 Corinthians 15?
Celestial bodies are the bodies out in space, while terrestrial bodies are things here on the earth. Their glory differs: the celestial has one glory and the terrestrial another, just as the sun, moon, and stars each differ in glory. This illustrates the resurrection: sown in corruption, raised in power.
Les explains that the illustration begins with seed: God gives it a body as it pleases Him, and each seed has its own body, all confined to its own species—no crossing from one totally different species into another. He then says all flesh is not the same: there is one kind of flesh of men, another of beasts, another of fish, and another of birds. Likewise, there are celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies—that which is out in space and things here on the earth. Their glory differs: one glory of the sun, another of the moon, another of the stars, for one star differs from another star in glory. This all illustrates the resurrection of the dead: it is sown in corruption, death, and raised in power.
There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
