How does salvation change a person spiritually?

Salvation changes a person spiritually by making them alive in this life. Those once dead in trespasses and sins are raised from a dead spiritual existence into an existence filled with the Spirit of God. They receive a new divine nature and all that salvation brings, a work grounded in resurrection power.

Les teaches that at the very core of the whole Christian belief is the power of resurrection, and that this power first applies in salvation. As Ephesians 2:1 puts it, those who were dead in trespasses and sins have been made alive spiritually in this life. He explains that this means being raised from a dead spiritual existence to an existence filled with the Spirit of God. The believer then has a new divine nature and all these things that salvation brings working on their behalf. Les emphasizes that these truths were unknown until the writings of the Apostle Paul, and he connects them to the believer's eternal state and resurrection.
