How does a person receive salvation?
A person receives salvation by believing, not by works, law-keeping, or human effort. They confess they can do nothing, trust that God has done it all, and believe the Lord died for them and rose from the dead. Then God expects them to live a life of service.
Les explains that salvation comes when a person simply says, 'Lord, there's nothing I can do, but I believe You've done it all,' and believes that on top of dying for them, He rose from the dead. This is stepping into the grace of God, receiving it free without lifting a finger, which flies in the face of human thinking and contrasts sharply with Judaism's rules, regulations, and law-keeping. Les notes this is where we begin; we don't stay there. After salvation, God expects us to move out and live a life of service, not just rest in saving grace and do nothing.
