Why does true salvation change a person's lifestyle, appetites, and thought process?
True salvation changes a person because the Holy Spirit becomes the guideline for living. The believer no longer walks after the flesh or old Adam but walks after the Spirit. Whereas they were once under the control of the world, the flesh, and the devil, they are now under the control of the Spirit of God.
Les teaches that one of the first marks of true salvation is a change in lifestyle, a change in appetites, and a change in the whole thought process. This happens because the Spirit becomes the believer's guideline for living. The righteousness of the law is fulfilled in those who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. Formerly they were controlled by the world, the flesh, and the devil; now they are under the control of the Spirit of God. The God-given love imparted through the power of the Holy Spirit then works in the believer's life, so that love fulfills the law.
