Why did Jesus ask the disciples for food after His resurrection?

Jesus asked for food as proof positive of His bodily resurrection. The disciples still could not believe for joy that it was the same Jesus, so He provided further tangible evidence. A ghost does not have hands and feet, and His request demonstrated He was visibly and physically present among them.

Les explains that after showing them His hands and feet, Jesus asked, "Have you any food?" as the proof positive. The disciples were still unable to believe for joy and wondered whether it was really the same Jesus they had known a few days before. Their last view of Christ on the cross was so disfigured and marred that it did not even appear human, yet now He stood before them seemingly whole except for the wounds. The request for food was further proof that He was physically present, not a ghost fluttering in mist.

Luke 24:41

And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

Luke 24:42

And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
