Is the resurrected body the same flesh and blood body we have now?
No. The resurrection body is not the same flesh and blood body we now possess. Scripture teaches believers will exist eternally in a body, but it will be of the same order as the present one. The best illustration is the Lord Jesus during the forty days after His resurrection.
Les explains that resurrection does not mean becoming invisible spirit beings or angels; rather, we will be eternally existing in a body. It will not be the same flesh and blood body we have now, but it will be on the same order. The best illustration Les gives is the Lord Jesus in His 40 days after His resurrection. Paul asks, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?” Les notes this is the only place where you get a real detailed explanation of resurrection. The Old Testament saints also believed in it: Job said, “I know that my Redeemer liveth,” and “in my flesh I shall see God.” David, after losing Bathsheba’s child, understood he would go to him.
