Is being brought back to life the same as resurrection?
No. Scripture distinguishes being brought back to life from resurrection. The widow’s son and Lazarus were merely called back from the dead and later died again; they were not resurrected. Resurrection began with the Lord Jesus Himself, who died and arose from the dead, never to die again, for all eternity.
Les teaches that being brought back to life is not the same as biblical resurrection. He explains that the word resurrection does not refer to someone who has died and been brought back to life, such as the widow’s son and Lazarus in Christ’s earthly ministry. They were not resurrected; they were simply called back from the dead and later died again. Resurrection began with the Lord Jesus Himself, who was the first to ever be resurrected. He died and arose from the dead, never again to die, and it was for all eternity. This chapter deals with resurrection, which is unique to Christianity and central to everything the Bible teaches. This life does not end at the grave; there is eternal life, and believers experience that same eternal life the moment they believe the Gospel.
But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
