Does resurrection mean being brought back to life?

No. Resurrection is not simply being brought back to life. Those called back from the dead, like the widow's son and Lazarus, died again. Resurrection began with Jesus Christ, who died and arose never to die again, for all eternity, and is the basis of Christian belief.

Les explains that practically no other religion has resurrection as the very basis of its beliefs; it is unique to Christianity. The word resurrection does not refer to someone who died and was brought back to life, such as the widow's son and Lazarus in Christ's earthly ministry. They were not resurrected; they were simply called back from the dead and died again. Resurrection began with the Lord Jesus Himself. He was the first to ever be resurrected, meaning He died and arose from the dead, never again to die, and it was for all eternity. This is the same eternal life believers experience the moment they believe the Gospel.
