How is the resurrection of the dead like planting a seed?

The resurrection of the dead is likened to planting a seed because the body is sown in corruption but raised in power. Just as a seed must die to bring forth much fruit, so resurrection requires a power greater than that which created the universe.

Les explains that in I Corinthians 15:42, Paul writes, 'so also is the resurrection of the dead.' He compares it to planting a seed of wheat or some other grain. The body that lived and died is sown in corruption and raised in power. Les stresses that Paul made so much of resurrection because when Christ arose from the dead, He exhibited more power than it took when He created the universe. This follows the principle that a seed must die to bring forth much fruit, pointing to Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, after which He became the object of faith for the whole human race.
