Why is it so hard for good people to be saved?

Salvation is hard for good people because they do not see their spiritual need. They consider themselves not that bad or pretty good, yet Scripture concludes all under sin. Until a person realizes they are hopelessly lost, God cannot save them, for salvation comes only by believing the Gospel.

Les explains that lost people are like a little lamb in a crevice with no hope unless the shepherd comes and finds him. They must understand that they are hopelessly lost, and then God can save them, and not until. Galatians 3:22 says Scripture has concluded all under sin. The promise by faith of Jesus Christ comes by believing in His death, shed blood, burial, and resurrection, giving eternal life and salvation. It is for nothing except believing the Gospel. But believing the Gospel does no good until a person realizes they are lost. This is especially hard for good people, who say, “I’m not that bad, I’m pretty good.” They may even be better than others, but until they realize how lost they are spiritually, until they realize what Scripture concludes, God cannot save them. They are without hope, and one day they will wake up and it will be too late. Les says it is sad, but God has forgiven every sin and has done everything that needs to be done.
