Why is there so much trouble among inner city kids raised without restraint?

Inner-city kids raised without direction or restraint often develop the attitude that they can do whatever they want, since no one will make them account for it. That absence of accountability inevitably leads to more and more trouble and disorder.

Les explains that much of the inner-city problem is that kids are being raised with no direction and no restraint. Consequently, their attitude becomes “I can do whatever I want to do,” because no one is going to make them account for it. He sees this as leading to more and more trouble as he looks at the whole picture. The unit then transitions back to Exodus and Israel’s Passover preparation, but the direct answer to the question is that an unrestrained upbringing breeds an unaccountable attitude and escalating trouble.
