Why are today's children not being taught the Word?
Today's children are not taught the Word because they and their parents are consumed by relentless activity—school, sports, music, drama—so no time remains for Scripture. Parents keep kids busy, and the kids lack time for the Word. This mirrors the pre-flood generation, whose intense activity left no time to consider God's coming wrath.
Les explains that a famed child psychologist said kids today are constantly pressured with activity. Nothing is wrong with those things in themselves, but when a child is kept hopping from schoolwork to soccer, football, baseball, golf, drama, and music, there is no time for anything else. Parents are so busy keeping their kids busy that they don't have time for the Word, so the kids are not being taught the Word. Les compares this to the days before the flood: people were so busy and in such intense activity that they had no time to think about the coming wrath of God in the flood. The same pattern exists today.
