Which religion uniquely promotes resurrection?
Only the Christian faith uniquely promotes resurrection as the Christian faith understands it. Other world beliefs, including Greek mythology, Eastern religions, and cults, may teach reincarnation, but that is not resurrection. This distinctive hope of resurrection is central to the believer and is why Paul emphasizes it in chapter 15.
Les explains that Christianity is not a religion in the same category as other belief systems, but he uses that term to refer to the rest of the world's beliefs. He notes that no religion on earth—not Greek mythology, not Eastern religions, not the cults—has a doctrine of resurrection. They may have reincarnation, but reincarnation is not resurrection. Only the Christian faith promotes resurrection as understood in Scripture, and this makes it unique. The whole hope for the believer is the resurrection, which is why Paul makes so much of it in chapter 15.
