Les Feldick Bible Study

Is resurrection unique to Christianity compared to other religions?

Yes. Scripture and Christian teaching present resurrection as unique: practically no other religion has resurrection as the basis of its beliefs. Christianity's core doctrine is that Jesus died and rose never to die again, and believers receive eternal life through the Gospel.

Les explains that the whole chapter is dealing with resurrection, and he stresses that practically no other religion on the planet has resurrection as the very basis of its beliefs. This is what is unique to Christianity: at the very core of everything Christians believe and everything the Bible teaches is the doctrine of resurrection. This life does not end at the grave; there is eternal life, and the only way to enjoy that eternal existence even as believers is to experience a biblical resurrection. Les also clarifies that resurrection is not merely someone being brought back to life, such as the widow's son and Lazarus, because they died again. Resurrection began with the Lord Jesus Himself, who was the first to be resurrected, dying and rising never to die again for all eternity. That same eternal life is what believers experience the moment they believe the Gospel.
