Les Feldick Bible Study

Does any religion other than Christianity teach a doctrine of resurrection?

No. There is not a single religion on earth—not Greek mythology, Eastern religions, or the cults—that teaches a doctrine of resurrection. They may have reincarnation, but that is not the same. Only the Christian faith promotes resurrection as understood, and that is what makes it unique.

Les explains that Christianity is not really a religion, but he uses that term to refer to the rest of the world’s beliefs. He stresses that there is not a single religion on earth—not in Greek mythology, Eastern religions, the cults, or anything else—that has a doctrine concerning resurrection. They have reincarnation, but that is not the same. Only the Christian faith promotes the resurrection as we understand it, and that makes it unique. Les further connects this to the believer’s hope: as the rest of chapter 15 shows, the whole hope for the believer is the resurrection, which is why Paul makes so much of it.
