What did God say when Adam was alone, and what does the word helpmeet mean?

When Adam was alone and named the animals that each had a mate, God said, “I will make a helpmeet for him.” The word helpmeet means a compliment, that is, a completion. Eve was Adam’s completion, just as the Body of Christ will be Christ’s completion.

Les explains that when Adam was alone and was naming the animals, each animal had its mate. Then God said, “I will make a helpmeet for him.” The other word given for helpmeet is “compliment.” So as Eve was the completion of Adam, the Body of Christ will be the completion of Christ Himself. This connects with the idea of fullness, which was also defined as compliment, meaning that when Christ finally has the Body in His presence, He considers Himself complete.

Genesis 2:18

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

More Questions

Why did God say it was not good for the man to be alone before Eve was created?

God said it was not good for Adam to be alone because, unlike the animals which came in pairs with their mates, Adam had no complement; therefore God would make a helper for him.
