How did Adam fellowship with God before the fall?
Adam was created with body, soul, and spirit. Through the spirit, he had fellowship and communion with the Creator. That spiritual part enabled his relationship with God before sin entered, and it became dead or dormant when he disobeyed. That is how he communed with God.
Les explains that Adam was originally created with three parts: body, soul, and spirit. The spirit was the part by which he had fellowship and communion with his Creator. When Adam sinned, he did not die physically for 939 years, but his spirit—the part used for fellowship with God—died. Les compares it to a dormant tree in winter or a run-down car battery: still present but dead, remaining so until outside energy regenerates it. At that same time, Adam's created personality became a sin nature bent only toward rebellion against God.
