What was the 'help mate' that God promised to make for Adam?

God promised Adam a help mate, described as a complement—not merely an assistant, but the counterpart who completed him. Eve fulfilled this role as the complement that completed Adam in that relationship, and the same connotation applies to the body of Christ as Christ's complement.

Les explains that after God said it was not good for man to be alone, He promised, “I will make him a help mate.” Les clarifies that the word means a complement. Eve was the complement that completed Adam in that relationship. He draws the same connotation to the body of Christ: as Eve completed Adam, the body of Christ is that complement of which Christ is still waiting for and looking for, and when it is suddenly filled and the last one is brought in, He is going to take it to Himself. Les also connects this to Revelation 19, where the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife—better understood as the bride—has made herself ready, arrayed in fine linen, the righteousness of the saints.

Genesis 2:18

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
