Will our resurrection be permanent or will we die again afterward?
Resurrection is permanent and final. Unlike those merely brought back to life, such as Lazarus and the widow’s son, who later died again, true resurrection means rising into the eternal state never to die again. When resurrection is experienced, there will be no dying again or being restored to life afterward.
Les explains that resurrection must be defined carefully because the term is often used incorrectly. In Scripture, people like the widow’s son under Elijah and Lazarus were raised from the dead, but they were not resurrected; they were merely brought back to life and died again. Resurrection, by contrast, speaks of what only Christ began: He arose from the dead into the eternal, never to die again. Christ was the first to be resurrected. When we experience resurrection, it is going to be final. We will not again have to die and be brought back to life.
