Les Feldick Bible Study

Do you feel anything when you are baptized by the Holy Spirit?

No, Holy Spirit baptism is not an emotional or physical phenomenon. A person feels nothing and is unaware of anything happening when the Spirit baptizes them into the Body of Christ. It is an unfeeling operation, known only because Scripture says it occurred. The word feeling is not used in Scripture.

Les teaches that Holy Spirit baptism is not an emotional phenomenon, nor is it a physical thing. He says, "You nor I ever felt a thing," and that we did not know anything happened when the Holy Spirit baptized us into the Body. It is an unfeeling operation, and we know it happened only because the Book says so. That is the only way we know we were placed into the Body of Christ. Les warns against looking for some emotional feeling, noting the word feeling is not used in Scripture. This discussion arises from I Corinthians chapter 12, where the Body of Christ is composed of people who have been baptized by the Holy Spirit.
