Does being a slave or a free person affect receiving the Holy Spirit?
Being a slave or a free person does not affect receiving the Holy Spirit. Scripture states that whether bond or free, everyone who believes the Gospel is made to partake of, or drink into, that one Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit baptizes all believers into the one Body of Christ.
Les explains that by the one Holy Spirit all believers are baptized into the one Body of Christ, whether Jew or Gentile. A saved Jew is a member of the Body of Christ just as surely as a saved Gentile, and that inclusion extends to social status. Whether a person was bond (a slave) or free, everyone who has become a believer of the Gospel has been made to partake of, or to drink into, that one Holy Spirit. Therefore, slave or free status does not determine or hinder receiving the Holy Spirit; the Body is not one member but many.
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
