Why can a Christian look for a way of escape when tempted?

A Christian can look for a way of escape when tempted because God has provided that escape. Temptation presents a choice, and when it is about to get the believer, the believer can turn to the provided way out and flee idolatry rather than yield.

Les teaches that Christians are people of choice, so when temptation comes and they know it is about to get them, they look for the way of escape because God has provided it. He connects that escape to I Corinthians 10:14, where Paul says that because of the ability to find a way of escape, the dearly beloved should flee idolatry. Les explains that idolatry is not limited to obvious idols; it can be an automobile, cattle, a garden, children, grandchildren, business, or job-anything that can become an idol. Therefore the believer looks for God's provided escape and puts the Lord first and foremost.

1 Corinthians 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
