What did Satan not understand about the nations he offered Jesus?
Satan did not understand that those same nations will one day be under Christ’s rulership when He rules and reigns. They will come as a result of His sovereignty, not by Satan’s offer. Satan evidently did not grasp that future reality, so his temptation misjudged the nations’ ultimate destiny.
Les explains that Satan took Jesus to an exceeding high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, offering control over them if Jesus would fall down and worship him. But Les teaches that Satan must not have known, and he did not believe Satan understood, that one day these same nations will be under Christ’s rulership when He rules and reigns. They will come as a result of His sovereignty, not because Satan gives them.
