Does sexual immorality and unfaithfulness to your spouse glorify God in your body?

Sexual immorality and unfaithfulness to a spouse do not glorify God in the body. Scripture teaches that because believers are bought with a price, the blood of Christ, everything done in this body of flesh should redound to God’s glory. Paul states that joining with prostitutes or the immoral and lacking fidelity brings reproach, not glory.

Les explains that because we are bought with a price—the blood of Christ—we are to glorify God in the body, the body of flesh in which we live, move, work, and play. He notes that Paul is driving at the issue of hobnobbing with prostitutes or the immoral and having no fidelity with your spouse. Doing so does not glorify God in the body; it brings reproach upon you. This all serves as an introduction to chapter 7.

1 Corinthians 6:20

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
