What does it mean to glorify God in your body?
To glorify God in the body means living in this body of flesh so that everything done—living, moving, working, playing—redounds to God’s glory. Because believers are bought with a price, the blood of Christ, they must not join with prostitutes or the immoral or break marital fidelity, which dishonors God.
Les explains that since we are now atoned and redeemed by the shed blood of Christ—not by Old Testament animal sacrifices—we are bought with a price. In I Corinthians 6:20, Paul therefore says, glorify God in your body. Les teaches that this means in this body of flesh in which we live, move, work, and play, everything we do should redound to the glory of God. Paul’s point is that if you hobnob with prostitutes or the immoral and have no fidelity with your spouse, then you do not glorify God in your body; it brings reproach. Les notes this is an introduction to chapter 7.
