How much exposure do people today have to the Bible?

People today generally have at least some exposure to the Scriptures. A good percentage have attended Sunday school as children, and many denominations put children through catechism, which exposes them to some things of the Bible. This contrasts with the pagan Corinthians, who knew nothing of God, Adam, Abraham, Moses, or the Law.

Les explains that in our present society, a good percentage of people have had at least some exposure to the Scriptures. They may have attended Sunday school when they were kids, and many denominations put their children through catechism, which at least exposes them to some of the things of the Bible. He then contrasts that with the Corinthians he is addressing, who had none of this background. They knew absolutely nothing of the things of God—nothing of Adam, Abraham, Moses, or the Law. They were pagan idol worshippers. So while people today often have some Bible exposure, the Corinthians came out of complete ignorance of Scripture. This difference frames the I Corinthians context.
