Is it ever okay for a Christian to use the world's court system?
No, Christians should not sue fellow believers in secular courts; such disputes belong within the church, handled by pastors, elders, or the congregation. However, there comes a point when a believer may have to go to the world's judicial system.
Les explains that the Corinthian church had members in a real wrangle, and instead of taking the matter to the local church body, pastor, elders, or deacons, they were going to lawyers and courts. Paul says, 'Don't go to the world's lawyers and the courts with your problem. Keep it within the confines of the believers.' Les notes that there comes a point, as he dealt with in Romans, when a believer may have to go to the world's judicial system. He also references a quote about divorce where only lawyers profit while everyone else is hurt.
