Should we go by our feelings or by what the Bible says in matters of faith?
In all realms of faith, we must go by what the Bible says, not by our feelings. If the Book says it, then whether I feel like it or not, that is what I have to go by. God says we are sinners, and that is what we must accept.
Les explains that pride is the main problem behind being puffed up, because people do not want to admit they are sinners. They say, "I'm not that bad" or "I'm pretty good," and refuse to see what God says. God says we are sinners, and that is what we have to go by, whether we feel like it or not. Les stresses that this is true in all the realms of faith: it does not matter how you and I feel about something; the question is, what does the Book say? If the Book says it, then whether I feel like it or not, that is what I have to go by. In the Corinthian situation, Paul addresses believers who were puffed up, as though he would not come to them, but he says he will come shortly.
