What will our rewards in eternity be?

Our rewards in eternity will be levels of responsibility as we rule and reign with Christ. The parable of the talents illustrates this: the servant who gained ten more was given rule over ten cities. Believers saved but with only wood, hay, and stubble will miss these rewards, though they remain saved.

Les explains that the coming reward is not salvation itself but something additional. Using the parable of the talents, he notes the servant who gained ten more was told he would rule over ten cities in the kingdom—reward in eternity. Les says the same applies to us: our rewards will be levels of responsibility as we rule and reign with Christ. By contrast, the person whose works are only wood, hay, and stubble will be saved but will not enjoy the benefits of reward. Les connects this to the period immediately after the Rapture, when the church is brought into glory with the Lord Jesus while the tribulation unfolds on earth. He points to II Corinthians 5:8, where Paul says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, as the setting for this idea of rewards coming to the fore.
