What will happen to us in eternity?

In eternity, believers will not remain earthy or bound as earth beings. They will bear the image of the heavenly, be transformed, and receive bodies like Christ’s glorious body. Their prospect is heavenly, fashioned after His resurrected body, as illustrated by Christ’s forty days after resurrection.

Les explains that Israel is earthy while the Church, the Body of Christ, is heavenly, and the two cannot be mixed. Believers have borne the image of the earthy through Adam, but they will not stay earthy. Their prospect is to bear the image of the heavenly. They are not for eternity going to be bound as earth beings; one day they will be transformed into that which is heavenly and have bodies like Christ’s. Les points to Philippians 3: believers look for the Lord from heaven, and He will change their bodies so they are fashioned after His glorious body. To get a glimpse of how believers will function in eternity, Les says to study Christ’s forty days after resurrection in the Gospel accounts, which is the perfect picture.
