How significant is 70 years compared to eternity?
In light of the eternity awaiting believers, 70 years is nothing. It is insignificant and fleeting when compared to the incorruptible, eternal reward. The human lifespan is a brief moment, entirely overshadowed by the endless duration of eternity. Therefore, it is nothing compared to the eternity that awaits believers.
Les teaches that when believers glimpse the eternity waiting for them, they will conclude that 70 years is nothing in the light of eternity. He illustrates this with the foot race: runners discipline themselves with balance to win a corruptible wreath that withers, while Christians run for an incorruptible reward. The contrast shows the temporal, fleeting nature of this life compared to the endless, incorruptible eternity.
