How long is eternity compared to a human lifetime?
Eternity is beyond comparison to a human lifetime. Even a long life of 70, 80, or 90 years, lived with youthful speed and enjoyment, is nothing next to the billions upon billions upon billions of years that await. Scripture presents eternity as coming, and it is infinitely longer than any earthly lifespan.
Les explains that young people should stop and think: even if someone could live a whole 70-, 80-, or 90-year lifetime and enjoy it at the speed of a 25- or 30-year-old, that is merely hypothetical. Compared with the billions upon billions upon billions of years of eternity, that long human lifetime amounts to nothing. Eternity is coming, and the book has been left to prepare us for it.
