What is the common purpose Christians are working toward?
Christians work together for a common purpose: to bring glory to God and to fill up the Body of Christ. They labor as God’s building, and when the Body is complete and the last person is brought in, the Lord will deliver them out of this evil world.
Les explains that believers are like workers building a wall of brick, each building a segment of God’s building, and every one of us is involved. Some may never get out of their rocking chair, others may accomplish great things, but like bees in a hive they all work together for a common purpose. Unlike bees, God does not kick out the lazy worker. Nevertheless, they work every day toward the same end: to bring glory to God and to fulfill or fill up the Body of Christ. When the Body is complete and the last person is brought in, the Lord will take them and deliver them out of this old evil world. This is the whole concept: we are laboring with God, we are God’s husbandry, part of God’s building.
