What is God's purpose in everything He is doing on behalf of the church?
God’s purpose in all He does on behalf of the church is to edify the Body of Christ—the true believers. Through prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, He builds them up until they reach the unity of the faith, the knowledge of the Son of God, and mature fullness in Christ.
Les teaches that all the things God has been doing on behalf of the church have one purpose: to edify the Body of Christ, the true believers. Only the Lord Himself places a person into the Body of Christ; no denomination, preacher, or priest can do it—only the Spirit of God can. The gifts of prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers are all for edifying the Body of Christ until all come into the unity of the faith, in the Body, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect or mature man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
