What is the purpose of everything God is doing on behalf of the church?
The purpose is to edify the Body of Christ—the true believers—so that all may come into the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect or mature man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
Les explains that everything God has been doing on behalf of the church is for the edification of the Body of Christ, the true believers. Only the Lord Himself places a person into the Body of Christ; no denomination, preacher, or priest can do it—only the Spirit of God. All this earthly sojourn, including prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, is to edify the Body until all come in the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect or mature man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
