Why does Les admire Apollos for listening to Priscilla and Aquila?
Apollos is admired because, though a great and magnetic speaker who knew only the Gospel of the Kingdom, he humbly listened as two lowly tentmakers, Priscilla and Aquila, took him aside and expounded the way of God more perfectly instead of dismissing them.
Les explains that Apollos was a great, magnetic speaker who could open the Old Testament, but he knew only the Gospel of the Kingdom preached by Jesus, the twelve, and John the Baptist—repentance, baptism, and believing Jesus was the Christ. He knew nothing of Paul's Gospel. Priscilla and Aquila, lowly tentmakers, took him aside and expounded the way of God more perfectly, telling him what he did not know. Les admires Apollos because, great man that he was, he sat down and listened to these two lowly tentmakers.
